With Easter upon us I want to share a short yet meaningful message with you. I love learning about the leader that Jesus was while on Earth. I want to reflect on him today because there is no better leader example to learn from.
Consistency. Hebrews says that Jesus Christ is the same yesterday and today and forever. I love this because all the wonderful Bible stories we read about sometimes seem so out of reach for us. However, Jesus is the same for us today as he was for those before us yesterday. And tomorrow we can rely on that same consistent love and unmerited grace. Modern times don’t stop God from working miracles in our life. Our sin and lack of faith do.
Jesus was consistent. During the wonderful times of preaching to the masses, healing the lame, and having followers clamor for his attention Jesus didn’t become puffed up and prideful (despite what a rush that must have been!). He remained consistently humble.
Even in the terrible times, when others lied and accused him of untruthful things, he didn’t lash out or vigorously defend himself. In less than a week he went from being cheered and applauded to being spat upon, and yet he remained consistently calm, honest, and focused on what He was called to do.
Think about a situation you are going through in this season. How are you handling it? What are you thinking? What are you saying? Are your actions consistent during difficult times like they are during the good times? Regardless of your circumstances, do you have the consistent peace that can be found in Christ?
